Unresponsive

That's me. Well, more specifically, my ovaries. I had blood work this morning, and according to the doctor, I'm "not responding as well as we'd like." He says I'm to increase the Gonal-F tonight to 450 (from 375), keep the Menopur the same (two vials), and go back on Thursday for an ultrasound and blood work.

I didn't really ask questions - I understand all about what my follicles should be doing, but as far as blood work, I'm not sure what my E2 levels should be at each stage - or what else they're looking at as far as blood levels. So, I just took him at his word about me not responding well. I'm honestly torn between wanting to research so I can obsess - I mean, ask appropriate questions - and wanting to keep taking him at his word and leaving it at that.

Something to ponder between now and Thursday, I suppose.

  1. This is your first visit since starting stims, right? It's not unusual to not see a whole hell of a lot then. Did they measure any follies yet?

    I guess what I am trying to say is, don't freak out yet. There's plenty of adjusting to do and that extra might just pop everything to life in a few short days. Hang in, my friend!

  2. As a poor responder, I can empathize with where you are at right now. There isn't a lot of information out there that tells you about your e2 should be at each day of monitoring. Thankfully your doctor is monitoring you early and is adjusting your medication now while there is still time! Next time you go in, ask what the target range for your E2 should be on that day. Essentially, for every mature follicle there should be 200 units for your E2. Obviously your follicles aren't mature right now, so just ask them where they are looking for it to be at. Don't be afraid to call them and ask either. That is a lot better than worrying about it! {hugs}

  3. I'm sorry to hear that your body is not cooperating yet. Hopefully it'll respond well to the higher dose and things will be back on track when you go in on Thursday.

    I don't have much to contribute about the E2 numbers, but I do agree that asking for what they are looking for may be helpful so you don't have to obsess.

    Hang in there and I'll be thinking of you the next couple of days.

  4. Well, sh*t. I've had that appointment before and it just sucks. The good news is that there are tons of adjustments that can be made to wake your ovaries up. Mine liked to get drunk on lupron and then show up hungover for stims...

    WAKE UP OVARIES!

    Hopefully the extra stims will get you moving in the right direction.
